With your help, the Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy can make a difference in local lives!

The Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy (MBCAL) trains volunteers as tutors and matches them with adult learners across the Morongo Basin area area who want to improve their literacy skills. MBCAL is a a recipient of Elsinore Machris Gilliland and Wal-Mart Foundation grants, and is affiliated with ProLiteracy America.

History

The Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy, Inc. was founded 1984 and incorporated as a Not-For-Profit Corporation in 1987. MBCAL began with two volunteers and one San Bernardino County Library employee to address this need in and around the surrounding communities of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree and 29 Palms.

The Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy, Inc., provides free confidential, one-on-one tutoring to illiterate adults over eighteen who need help with reading, writing, and/or mathematics in order to achieve their potential and to function in their home, workplace, and community.
