The Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy (MBCAL) for Adult Literacy, Inc., provides free, confidential one-on-one tutoring to illiterate adults over eighteen who need help with reading, writing, and/or mathematics in order to achieve their full potential and to function in their home, workplace, and community .
We rely heavily on volunteer tutoring it is at the heart of our programs.
By volunteering, you can offer vital help to people in need, and it's something you can feel good about. It's a chance to make a difference to people around you and it's an opportunity to develop or build upon your skills, experience, and knowledge.
When it comes to volunteering, passion and positivity are the only requirements. Experience is not requiredeveryone receives training.

Who Are The Adult Learners?
Adult Learners are 18 years old or older, represent different genders and races, and come from all economic and social backgrounds.
They may have completed high school or left before completing school. They may not have acquired the literacy and comprehension skills needed to be successful and are looking to our volunteers to help them fill in the gaps.
They may be looking for Basic Adult Literacy Skills, College or Career Readiness, High School Equivalency, Math, Citizenship, English Language Learning, or Digital Literacy.
Tutoring twice a week for 2 hours a week.
