Volunteer Literacy Tutor

The Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy (MBCAL) for Adult Literacy, Inc., provides free, confidential one-on-one tutoring to illiterate adults over eighteen who need help with reading, writing, and/or mathematics in order to achieve their full potential and to function in their home, workplace, and community .

We rely heavily on volunteer tutoring it is at the heart of our programs.

By volunteering, you can offer vital help to people in need, and it's something you can feel good about. It's a chance to make a difference to people around you and it's an opportunity to develop or build upon your skills, experience, and knowledge.

When it comes to volunteering, passion and positivity are the only requirements. Experience is not required–everyone receives training.

What Qualifications Do I Need?

The only degree you need is a degree of caring and

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Ability to relate to people from many backgrounds and cultures.
  • Dependability and flexibility.
